Overflowing Blessings
Most Christians know the promise on tithing in Malachi 3:10, but many do not know what God also said about tithing and offerings in Deuteronomy 26:12-15. Therefore, many faithfully tithing Christians have never experienced the overflowing blessings as promised in Malachi 3:10…
Testimony: Overflowing Blessings
Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,’ Says the Lord of hosts, ‘If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.’ (Malachi 3:10)
Most Christians know the promise on tithing in Malachi 3:10, but many do not know what God also said about tithing and offerings in Deuteronomy 26:12-15. Therefore, many faithful Christians tithe and offer without accompanying prayers. As a result, most of them have never experienced the overflowing blessings as promised in Malachi 3:10.
A discipleship group member of The Promised Land Ministries International, Y, went on a trip to China recently to visit her family and take care of some personal business. On her first Sunday morning in China, Y attended a local church service in her hometown. The church was doing fund raising for getting a new building. Y was very touched and decided to make an offering even though her financial condition had been very tight. When she was walking forward to give, she remembered Rev. Rachel Hsu’s teaching on tithing and offering. So she prayed according to the Biblical principles for God to meet her personal needs as she put in her offering. Couple days later, her father suddenly decided to give her a sum of money out of the blue and the money was more than enough to cover her entire trip. For Chinese, it is customary for working adult children, as Y is, to give their parents money, but not the other way around. Still, the Lord turned things around to fulfill His promise. Great is His faithfulness!
“Dear Heavenly Father, May You grant us the comprehensive understand of the Biblical principles in tithing and offering. Help us to walk in this truth and to claim the overflowing blessings that You have promised in Malachi 3:10 so that all nations will call us blessed (Malachi 3:10) and be drawn to You. In the Holy Name of Jesus, Amen.”
When you have finished laying aside all the tithe of your increase in the third year—the year of tithing—and have given it to the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, so that they may eat within your gates and be filled, then you shall say before the Lord your God: ‘I have removed the holy tithe from my house, and also have given them to the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, according to all Your commandments which You have commanded me; I have not transgressed Your commandments, nor have I forgotten them. I have not eaten any of it when in mourning, nor have I removed any of it for an unclean use, nor given any of it for the dead. I have obeyed the voice of the Lord my God, and have done according to all that You have commanded me. Look down from Your holy habitation, from heaven, and bless Your people Israel and the land which You have given us, just as You swore to our fathers, “a land flowing with milk and honey.” (Deuteronomy 26:12-15)
