Testimony: Signs Follow Those Who Believe and are Baptized
He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons... the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen. (Mark 16:16~17,20)
The Promised Land (TPL) ministry team, represented by Rev. Rachel and Pastor Ling-Ling this time, ministered in Asia from September 9th to October 8th, 2015. In the second country that they visited, they were put in charge of a church retreat with more than 140 attendees, including 30 some non-Christians. On September 19th, Rachel taught a whole day seminar on the Biblical principles of making decisions to enter into God’s victory. This seminar helps Christians to apply Biblical truth into their daily living and helps non-Christians to know God’s Words as the eternal truth that are relevant to every one. On the following day, which was a Sunday, Rachel gave a sermon on the Doctrine of Predestination to enlighten the retreat attendees with God’s wonderful will for each person.
At the end of the sermon, Rachel gave an altar call for Christians to submit to God’s Lordship, and most Christians responded. She moved on to give an altar call for non-believers who not only want to accept Jesus as their personal Savior, but also as their Lord for the rest of their lives. Nine people responded, 7 of which were males and 2 were females. Since Rachel had clearly explained the Gospel, she accepted the local church’s request and baptized these nine new converts. Afterward, Rachel and Ling-Ling fellowshipped with local leaders and then went to the airport that night to catch a red-eye flight to Malaysia.
By the following Friday night, Rachel and Ling-Ling had finished 4 days of ministry in PJ, Malaysia. They were going to bed in order to get ready for another whole day of ministry for the next morning. But Ling-Ling’s cell continued to buzz non-stop with messages from an elder of the church to whom they ministered last week. This elder was very excited about the sharing that took place in his cell group that evening, especially the shared testimonies from the three that got baptized last Sunday:
Brother A – He worshipped Buddha before coming to Christ. For years, he struggled a lot with managing his company, even to the point of constant worrying and health deterioration. Ever since he accepted Christ last Sunday, the entire company changed. Starting Monday, employees started following orders and everything flowed well together. He was amazed to see how God orchestrated all for his good. He was totally convicted by last Saturday’s seminar. He realized that if he had implemented even just 1/10 of those principles of God, he would have accomplished a lot more in his life by now. He had attended this cell group before, never having anything to say. But this time, he shared his testimonies for 30 minutes non-stop.
Brother B – He used to be addicted to gambling. Although he had lost lots of money (close to one million US dollars) already, he still could not quit. After returning from the retreat last Sunday, his friends took him to gamble as usual. But as soon as he entered the gambling place, he felt disgusted and had no desire to gamble. He sensed that even if someone gave him money to gamble, he still would not do it. Since then, he was completely healed of his gambling addiction.
Brother C – Upon hearing the messages at the retreat, he was convicted that God’s Words were the truth. He has committed to follow Christ for the rest of the days of his life.
During the cell meeting, there was a brother D. He used to appear as a committed believer by saying that he grew up in a Christian home and his house back in his hometown opened up for church meetings. He interacts with brothers A and B frequently since they were all business owners. After hearing these testimonies, brother D very much regretted not getting baptized last Sunday. He had always thought that his sins were too great and that he needed to do better before getting baptized. That evening, he learned that people changed as a result of their commitment to God, not by their own efforts.
May all glory and honor be to the Lord, Almighty, amen!
